ISLAMABAD: Saudi ministry for religious affairs has announced its Umrah policy for the current year.

The pilgrims, under the new policy, will be required to present NIC issued from NADRA, machine readable passport and four photos with white background to apply for visa to visit Saudi Arabia for performing Umra.

Women will not be allowed to be escorted by other than a ‘Mehram’ (a family member).

The visa for Umrah will not exceed one month period.

People under 40 years of age will not be granted visa for Umrah. The reason for this restriction is to discourage the people, mostly under 40, who do not leave the country even after expiry of the visa for taking up employment or other purposes.

Only those agencies registered with International Air Travel Association will be authorized to make agreements with companies for accommodation of the pilgrims.

It will be manadotry for the representative of the Saudi companies to welcome the pilgrims at their arrival at Jeddah.

Only specific companies’ transport will ferry the pilgrims to Makkah. The same transport will carry the pilgrims from Makkah to Madina and back or to Jeddah.
