The Lahore Badshahs, led by the legendary Inzamam-ul-Haq, have beaten all others in the second edition of the Indian Cricket League, and as CNN-IBN reports, it will take some effort to stop them from claiming the title. A specially crafted ball is what the man of the series at the Edelweiss 20s Challenge will take back home. And it was in the hands of the man who is leading the most dreaded team in the ICL.
"Our team is performing very well. We have all the opportunities to win this tournament," Inzamam says.
And their performance at the tournament has been impeccable.
The Badshahs have won all of their five matches in the league, starting with a win over defending champions Chennai Superstars. No other team thereafter has even come close to giving the Badshahs a tough competition.
- beat Chennai Superstars by 5 wickets
- beat Hyderabad Heroes by 9 wickets
- beat Chandigarh Lions by 38 runs
- beat Mumbai Champs by 50 runs
- beat Delhi Giants by 8 wickets
And so they sit on top of the table with 10 points.
"We have been playing together for the last couple of years. So we know each other very well. Other teams might be struggling for the combination," fast bowler Muhammad Sami says.
For the opposition, needless to say, they feel they are playing against the Pakistan national team.
"They make lots of runs and their bowling — they have quality fast bowling, and they have quality spinners. So, their whole side is a complete package for Twenty20 cricket," says Ahmedabad Rockets captain Damien Martyn.
While Chennai Sueprstars captain Stuart Law adds: "They will probably give the Pakistan cricket team a run for their money. We didn't expect to face 95mph bowling in this form of cricket, but they have a couple of guys at the moment, a couple of great batsmen. They are a complete side."
With the tournament in its final stages, a couple of more wins would see the men from Lahore become the Badshahs of the ICL Edelweiss 20s.
