Hyderabad: Lahore Badshahs maintained their winning streak by registering a 11-run victory over Ahmedabad Rockets in their last league match of second edition of the Indian Cricket League's Twenty20 tourney here at the Tau Devi Lal Stadium.
It was an inconsequential match in the context of the Indian Cricket League’s semi-final line-up. Rockets were already out of the reckoning for a spot in the last four. For Badshahs, though, it was yet another game to reassert their supremacy.
Rockets did well to restrict the Badshahs to 150-9. In fact Badshahs were far from their best. Sumit Kalia (4-20) pierced through their middle-order reducing them to 80/5.
Once again it was Hasan Raza who came to the rescue with a well-compiled 44 off 32 balls — a knock that included four fours and two sixes.
Rockets were rarely in the chase losing wickets at regular intervals. Although a late flourish by Anshu Jain (43) kept Rockets in the hunt, Badshahs always held the upper hand.
Mohammad Sami and (2-29) and Mushtaq Ahmed (2-30), as they have done throughout this tournament, stifled the runs in the middle-overs. Sridharan Sriram (24) and skipper Damien Martyn (17) failed to capitalise on the starts.
Heath Streak and Jain threw their bats around at the death but eventually ran out of steam and overs.
