YANGON: More than 15,000 people have been killed in two divisions of Yangon in the violent cyclone storm that swept Myanmar's five divisions and states, according to official sources.
The military government has declared emergency in the country and appealed for international assistance. Death toll is constantly increasing and storm-hit areas have been badly affected. The communication network has been disrupted.
The United Nations has said in the first step food, drinking water, blankets and other relief goods will be dispatched to storm-hit areas after getting an approval from Myanmar government.
